On
Friday, April 20th and Saturday, April 21st, the art of Story Telling will
return again to the Ohio Valley. The Strand Theatre Preservation
Society will be hosting four well known storytellers for the Second Annual
Strand Theatre Storytelling Festival.
This years
stellar
performers include
some of the best storytellers in the country...Rich Knoblich,
Bil Lepp, Carmen Deedy, & Ed Stivender...
The
Festival will include three days of exciting and entertaining events:
On Thursday
the storytellers will be traveling to numerous Marshall County Schools
for performances throughout the day.
On Friday,
the Storytelling Festival will officially being with a performance by
the fore mentioned storytellers, beginning at 6:30 pm at the John
Marshall High School auditorium.
On Saturday
there will be an Amateur Liar’s Competition held for any person
age 16 and up who believe they have mastered the art of storytelling.
This event will begin at 10:00 am. A Youth Storytelling
Showcase will be held at 1:00 pm. Both the Amateur Liar's
Competition and Youth Storytelling Showcase are free to the public.
On Saturday evening, all four storytellers will return with a second
unique performance....
STORYTELLER BIOS
Ed Stivender is one of the giants in storytelling. He has delighted
worldwide audiences with his witty, wise, and sometimes winsome renditions
of traditional, literary and original pieces.
Carmen Deedy has entertained thousands of adults and children alike
with her ultra energetic and charming syle. Deedy's performances of
the humorous and poignant episodes of familial living, ring a familiar tone
in the ear while retaining the unique quality of her individual upbringing.
Not only does Deedy recount personal stories, she also tells classic folk
tales from around the world and is any author of many children's books
including The Yellow Tree, Treeman, and The Library Dragon.
Bil Lepp is a five-time champion of the West Virginia Liars Contest.
He tells original, hilarious, tales that will bring a smile to the face of
even the most ill humored person. Bil Lepp is a nationally known storyteller
with a down home feel.
Rich Knoblich’s outrageous humor creates memorable moments for
listeners of his original stories. He received that honor of being “West
Virginia’s Biggest Liar 2002” His work has been published in Goldenseal,
Country Extra, Storytelling, and Appalachian Life
magazines and the PBS website, The Call of Story. Rich is also a
local resident, as well as a teacher for Marshall County Schools.
Again, there will be two unique evening performances on
Friday and Saturday evenings beginning at 6:30 pm at the John Marshall High
School Auditorium

performances!!! Tickets can be purchased in
advance at Neubauer’s Flowers (Jefferson Ave. Moundsville) or at the
Marshall County Chamber of Commerce (7th & Jefferson Ave, Mdsv)
