Grave
Creek Mound is one of the largest and most famous of the burial mounds built
by the Adena people. A massive undertaking, construction of the mound
required the movement of more than 60,000 tons of earth.
Artifacts and exhibits interpreting
the lifestyle of the Adena people are displayed in the Delf Norona Museum
adjacent to the 2,000-year-old mound.


Opened in 1978, the museum also
features a gift shop, a theater that offers theatrical and musical
performances, and a fine art gallery.
Conveniently located 15 minutes
south of Wheeling, WV,
just one block east of Rt. 2.
